ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS FOR
INDIVIDUAL LIGHTWEIGHT LOAD-CARRYING EQUIPMENT
(Pack on Belt)
- Adjust Individual Equipment Belt. Adjust belt around waist, loose enough that it does not constrict the clothing, by engaging hooks at each end in center row of eyelets. Move a keeper next to each hook to prevent unfastening and move other keeper against buckle component at each end to keep in position.
- Attach Field Pack to Belt. Lay belt out flat, inside up, on back of Field Pack, with male belt fastener to your right. Attach Field Pack by attaching webbing so that the center of belt matches center of pack.
- Attach Suspenders to Field Pack and Belt. Attach back suspender straps to pack by engaging hooks on straps onto “D” rings of pack’s two web tabs. Attach front suspender straps to belt by engaging hook of left strap into eyelet on left side of belt nearest buckle, and hook of right strap into eyelet on right side of belt nearest buckle. Be sure that closure of snap hooks is shut.
- Adjust Front and Back Suspender Straps. Put on assembled equipment and adjust front suspender straps so belt is properly located at waist. Remove equipment and adjust length of each back suspender strap so belt hangs evenly in front and back.
- Attach Intrenching Tool Carrier to Belt. Attach on left side close to pack, by means of two attaching clips on back of Intrenching tool carrier.
- Attach Canteen Cover to Belt. Attach on right side close to pack, by means of two attaching clips on back of canteen cover.
- Attach Small Arms Ammunition Cases to Belt. Attach one on left side next to intrenching tool carrier and one on right side next to canteen cover, by means of two attaching clips on back of each case. Attach supporting strap of each case to the metal “D” ring on each suspender strap. Adjust length of each supporting strap so it has same amount of strain as suspender strap next to it.
- Attach First Aid Packet or Lensatic Compass Case. Attach to belt on right side next to ammunition case if space is available. If not, attach to left side of right ammunition case.
- Attach Hand Grenades to Small Arms Ammunition Cases. Attach hand grenade to side of ammunition case at rearmost position so that grenade is well protected. Grenades should be carried in the front position only when carrying more than two grenades has been authorized. Slide handle of grenade into loop formed at end of webbing, securing the attaching clips to case. Place web securing strap around top of grenade and fasten snap fastener.
